In the ribbon theme, a bubble is drawn under my icon in the top left
corner. But I need to get rid of the bubble behind my icon for logo
branding reasons. What is the proper, blessed way of doing this please?

Hi,
oh.. this bubble.. :)
There is trick - if you have image with Width/height > 32 it wil be used instead.
So just resize your image a little.
