normally  it would be easy to create png image, but for a toolbaro, i haven't done that before. any help would be appreciated.

Hi, gfjump.
Have you ever found your way out? Why not try to create images using some 3rd party imaging toolkits? I am not so sure whether it allows users to create toolbar images or not. But you can google it and have a try. Remember to check its free trial package first if possible. I hope you success. Good luck.

The easy solution is that you should not have a 1px spacing between the images.  See any of the samples provided by CodeJock.
