normally it would be easy to http://www.rasteredge.com/how-to/vb-net-imaging/create-new-image/" rel="nofollow - create png image , but for a toolbaro, i haven't done that before. any help would be appreciated.

Have you ever found your way out? Why not try to create images using some 3rd party http://www.yiigo.com/guides/vbnet/" rel="nofollow - - toolkits ? I am not so sure whether it allows users to create toolbar images or not. But you can google it and have a try. Remember to check its free trial package first if possible. I hope you success. The easy solution is that you should not have a 1px spacing between the images. See any of the samples provided by CodeJock.
