BUG: TreeCtrl icons with multi-byte chars

I think I have found a bug in the Tree Control.  I had to switch a project from using unicode to multi-byte characters, and not treating wchar_t as a built-in type, due to other dependencies.  (Both options have to be changed in conjunction to compile so I'm not sure if one or the other is the main issue.)  I am using a Tree Control with four icons, a set each for nodes and leaves.

Before, the tree looked like this:


After changing these options (no code changes!), the tree now looks like this:


Is there any fix available?

Since I didn't need anything specific to the Codejock control for this case, I have switched to a CTreeCtrl and everything (including lines!) works properly now.
