Get focused cell

   I have a reportcontrol with 
m_wndReport.FocusSubItems(TRUE);

This enables me to manouver around in the control with the arrows. 
In my OnReportSelChanged message handler I want to get the active cell, but m_wndReport.GetActiveItem() returns NULL. Is there another way to get the fouces cell here?

Another issue is that some of my items has dropdown or expand buttons attached. The dropdown (with its constraints) can be selected with the keyboard, but I can't activate the expand buttons from the keyboard. It works fine with the mouse.
