Hi,

Q: How do I set the SpecialColors for the ShortcutCaption control to force Office 2003 blue on non-themed operating systems?

I am using the code to force the CommandBars to use Office2003 blue on non-themed operating systems and it works like a charm. However, I don't see a SetSpecialColor property for the ShortcutCaption control.

Thanks!

As best I can tell, CommandBars is the only ActiveX control to offer the ability to set the colors used by a theme.  I've posted similar questions about using this feature in other controls, but I don't think I've ever gotten a response.  Hopefully this is a feature they'll add in the next release, but you can't do it now.  You may want to go ahead and submit it as a feature request.  The more requests they receive, the more apt they are to include the functionality.

Sorry I couldn't deliver good news.

Here are the other posts that discussed the same topic (but in reference to DockingPanes):

Boyd, thanks for the reply. I've submitted a feature request. Hopefully, we'll hear something from CodeJock soon (at least an estimated timeframe).

You can now do this.  You can set the individual colors or you can "force" a theme.  Keep in mind that there is no way to change system controls like the scroll bar and window frame.

To "force" a WinXP theme on non XP systems (But take note of the disadvantages above):

Private Sub Form_Initialize()
    CommandBarsGlobalSettings.ColorManager.SystemTheme = xtpSystemThemeBlue
    SuiteControlsGlobalSettings.ColorManager.SystemTheme = xtpSystemThemeBlue
End Sub

And look at this link:
