Running Windows 7 with UAC ON.

Create new VB6 Project
Attempt to add CommandBars to Toolbox and get error "Error accessing system registry"

Same happens for Calendar and Skins - didn't try any other Codejock components.

Everything works correctly with UAC OFF.

Using ProcMon I can see that we're getting Access Denied when attempting to create key in HKCR\TypeLib

This works correctly with VISTA and UAC bit not Windows 7 with UAC  (ATLEAST NOT FOR ME)

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Its VB6 issue - not our controls.  In Windows7 I right click on VB icon and choose Run As Administrator.

Yes, Oleg is correct. VB6 was not intended to be used on a system past Windows 2000. Although it works great on XP. You can run the IDE within Vista with some patching but I personally prefer just to run a virtual machine. Microsoft has a free software called Virtual PC 2007 SP1 that you can install XP under Windows 7 and just operate between the host and guest OS. Plus, Windows Vista/7's registry itself is setup a tad bit different. But I would definitely go with a virtual machine.

Oleg & Shipwreck:

Thank you both.
I can now open my existing projects with UAC ON by running VB6 as Admin.
I was pulling my hair out over this.
