I'm trying to implement a mask edit style control as a report item. I have overridden the OnChar in my derived class, I derived from CXTPReportRecordItemText into my new class but it doesn't seem to be hitting the OnChar. Is there an NM I need to handle or is there a more elegant way to do this ?

I know it is an old thread but I am having the same problem as you and I discovered that OnChar() message is only called when you are not in "edit mode" (in place edit) of a CXTPReportRecordItemText. If you navigate to a particular cell using arrow keys and then press any other key, OnChar is invoked.

Not sure if it helps after all these years but...
