I find myself scratching my head sometimes, trying to deal with an issue presented by this software.

I've been playing with "CXTPopupControl", and have even released it in my software.

But, I find myself finding bugs in this software -- things that one might expect it to "just do"....

Personally, I'd expect this popup control to be a toaster windows that pops up on top of the system tray.

In a basic situation, this is true.  But if anything unusual happens, then this is no longer true.

For example, if someone changes the resolution on their monitor, while the application is running.  Then all of a sudden the popup displays in the wrong place.

Another example, is when the user places their tray at the top of the screen...

I can and will fix these problems myself.  But it leads me to question why...  and how much to assume from this toolkit?

There is public method SetPopupPos that you can call and show popup where you want.

I was really looking for the most philosophical answer, I guess.

Why make a popup class which only does part of the work?

Don't get me wrong, I am happy with what the toolkit does.  I just kinda assume that I don't have to fix things for the tookit, too.

Take software like Kaspersky Antivirus. It also shows popups with the same "bug" as XTP:s popup control. The same goes for many other worldwide-spread applications.

Hence, the popup control has the quality one would expect.

We ourselves are very happy with this control even thou now we have moved some popup messages :) to the new CXTPMessageBar's due to how cool they look.  Eg. to tell user a software update is available.

CTPMessageBar was added to XTP 12 and is in beta but very stable so far for us.

Cheers
Terry
