My project is to read events from a SQL database using a datawindow. Then Display the events/appt in the calendar when its opened. However users will never be allowed to change the appts via the Calendar is nothing more then a nice way to view the scheduled events.

I'm having trouble understanding the use of the dataprovider. Do i need this still since I want to manually add the events and not be ready automatically from a table in the database. The reason is I will have a selection screen that will further restrict what the Read Only Calndar window will display

Any help appreciated.

Suppose you have two similar calendar app - one for manager who run it in unrestricted mode - can create, modify and delete events, and one for other users who can only see events - this app user readonly mode. Both apps use same dataprovider.
