I open a docking pane, then right click inside it to open a context menu. When I move the mouse on the menu but outside the pane, the pane closes. The parent CWnd of the menu is set to the pane. Is it possible to force the pane to stay open while its menu is open?

ok, seems I see now - "open pane" means it was hidden and you expand it ?
When you open it do you click on its tab and it become active ? if not, try manually call SetFocus to your pane.
