A difficult one to describe (and replicate) but here goes.. I have a report control on a MDIChild form and an associated fieldchooser control on another form. If a user is in the middle of dragging a column from the chooser to the report control and another application triggers a dialog message, then the report control does not yield it's control of the mouse cursor and the column header continues to be displayed. If the dialog is a net send message, then it is still possible to correct the errant behaviour by hitting enter to close the dialog, then hitting escape to release the column header. However if the dialog does not respond to key presses (say a Norton Personal Firewall alert), then the user is stuck. I've attached a screenshot of the situation. As you can see the message has the focus but the column header is still suspended by the mouse. All the the screenshot doesn't display is that the mousepointer, which is permanently displayed as the unavailable icon. |
