Maybe last minute bug fixes, I am sure we would all prefer something stable, I know I would as 11.2 will be used for our project to go retail.
Time for bed as my time zone is 04:07 and tired, so will check to see if released tomorrow or monday now.

As software developers we should all know that deadlines are not always kept to as unforeseen problems occur, I am sure that when CodeJock believe XTP is ready for release (in a stable condition), they will tell us.
If we got a buggy XTP we'd all moan, so lets give them some slack and get what we all want, which is a stable release.

Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the delay, we have had network outages for most of last week due to our office move. Fortunately, everything is back online and we are now catching up.
We are working this weekend and should have the release ready by Monday or Tuesday, thanks for your patience.

I think it would be really great if we could subscribe to something like an "new-version-announcement mailing list", so we could automatically be notified when a new version is released. Often there isn't even an announcement here on the forum, and I already missed some releases :)

It's true that we all wants tested code, and that we can wait another day or another week, but let me focus on few points:
1) it's almost 5 months from last major release ( Vol 1 ) and after a couple of years of regular quarterly release we are in the way of 2 yearly
upgrades (it seems)
2) What new items are included ? This is a key points, if 11.20 is a generic release 5 months are too much
3) If this a milestone release why do not provide a beta version instead of a 11.21 scheduled apparently to bug fix 11.20 ?
4) Support is excellent, company announcements not.

The best way to get a good release is to not put pressue on the developers - we know that, let's leave Oleg & crew to do their best in peace - it's the best option for us as well.

I am wondering what it means. Does it mean that you are still in the development phase and rushing with changes??? Or does it mean that you are in the testing phase and don't make any "hurry-up-its-late" changes?
Let us hope that new version is stable...

Mainly just testing....allot of code to test on many different OS. Builds are going OK now. That was another reason for the delay, the build machine had to be reformatted.

HTML Tooltip yes.
PropertyDialogs no. But placing a TabControlPage inside a Resizer control is internally the same thing as a PropertySheet from MFC. COM just does not get the CXTPPropertyPageTreeNavigator, etc this time around. |

So what excactly has been changed? Looks like in 11.1 and before. Where in Office 2007 have you found this style?
Spotted some differences to Office 2007, the list items have a wrong font (no ClearType too)/color and also no margin on the left. Also are the items in Office a few pixels higher. Are separators possible to? I suppose the borders are flat because of the skin and would be sunken (edge) otherwise? |

Just in relation to the comment you made about having to reformat your build machine.
We recently moved a bunch of our servers over to VMWare. There's a free version out now. Setting up a machine for building can be a lot of work. If you set it up on VMWare, then you can archive the image, so if your build machine crashes, just run the image on another VMWare server.
I can't say enough good things about virtualising hardware - frees you from pretty much all hardware-related issues.
PS - what I would really love to see in the syntax edit control
void SetString(LPCTSTR strCode)
CString GetString()
It's a real pain to load small chunks of code from strings into it at the moment.
Plus a Lua lexer :)

The development of the MFC toolkit seems to be a one man show, because otherwise this is never the work of 5 months.
Also I can't understand why the HTML tooltips have been added such lately in the release cycle while other features which have been requested by many people since a year are delayed further. We still don't get a true Office 2007 look and feel. Apps will still look like patchwork. And I'm not even starting to talk about features like the mini toolbar (floaty), undo/redo popup, statusbar slider, caption bar etc. |

The Suite-code is based on the Toolkit-code. I believe Suite is merely a Toolkit-wrapper with some 10% extra code for the actual ActiveX thingy. Also, remember that during the summer most people are on vacation :P

Personally as a developer who has had over 30 commercial games, and many other apps released, I believe CodeJock are doing a very good job, development is not as fast as some would like. And some companies operate better with less employees, eg. we have very few, but are still world leaders.
The kernal behind XTP is very well designed and developed and it takes time to add new features Microsoft launch in their new products.
Please give CodeJock a break and realise some features are more important than others in the release cycle to keep to Microsofts UI License.
Dont get me wrong 100% office 2007 look would be nice, but some features, come on, who would use them.

Also we need to let me get on, as the more questions they answer with regards to when will XTP 11.2 be released, the longer it will take. I am sure we will get soon, and just like you, we are desperate for the new version for our new product launch, but also we dont want it to be buggy as if so, we wont be able to release yet either.
Keep up great work CodeJock

Why one-man show is considered bad thing? Actually I belive it results in better code. I am one-man show too and my apps are faster and occupy less space than the competition.
The quality of code is what it counts. Not the number of developers.

I agree, the toolkit is very well developed, I've never said anything else. But the way features are scheduled seems to be more than unprofessional. 11.2 is overdue and HTML tooltips have been requested 08/15 and they have been added that late in the release cycle while other promised features still didn't made it into the release. So there is no accountability, you never know when you'll get what until it is released. |

I don't want to argue about the tooltip, my pain point is that there are still no Access 2007 like tabs and Office 2007 style docking panes (or task panes how they call them), as well as no silver and black skin. The current silver and black Vista skin (which are actually XP skins) are looking inconsistent with the Office Ribbon theme as well as with the blue Office skin. Even the blue Vista skin looks different than the silver and black one. I was also hoping for a true clone of the Office 2007 property sheet. |

Disappointing release. The property sheet with the embedded property grid is nice, but still needs some touch up to match the Office look&feel. |

What is the status of some of the earlier comments made about the Office 2007 look and feel for the PropertyPageListNavigator? Specifically is there a fix so that the text has a larger margin on the left? Is there a way to place separators in there?
Thanks |
