We have installed the new version 9.51 of then Xtream Suite and began immediately experiencing crashes in our test environment (Windows 2000 SP 4 working in Terminal Server Mode and Testers connecting from Windows XP SP1 machines). We was having problems of those kind with version 8.7 because of witch we chouse to stick with version 8.6 - it was the only stable version. But because for the past month we migrated very large part of our forms and user controls to Codejock menus and toolbars - we started experiencing slowdowns in the system so we began monitoring closely the performance of the system and our application. Yesterday we found out that with version 8.6 after opening 10 documents (forms with menu and a toolbar – approximately 60 controls in the CommandBar object in each form or user control) the processors utilization started going extremely high (50% processor load without no activity from the user or any background processes) and this was only from one user on the server (our application is enterprise level system witch is used by tens of users and only one of them getting 50% of one processor is absolutely unacceptable). We decide to try version 9.51, tested it on the development machines and found that the problem was fixed and made a build of our system with version 9.51. When our testers started the test procedure the Terminal Server went down – the first time we thought it was coincidence but the unexpected system shutdowns continued. So we went to the conclusion that version 9.51 have the same problems like version 8.7. Because of the two problems now we are in the middle of nowhere we can’t use 8.6 because of then processor utilization and neither any later version because of the crashes. The crashes are not at the same place but sporadically occurring (for the moment we are thinking they are occurring at the moment when the form or user control is unloaded but cannot be certain). We are continuing our testes to try to locate the source of the problem but any help will be greatly appreciated. |
