Hi,
I was wondering how many members are using the ReportControl in virtualmode? Please send me a Personal Message and I will keep this post up to date. Let me know:
I'm asking this for a reason, some features are possible but some aren't:
Green: Possible
Red: not possible (yet ?!?!)
And maybe with the help of the members, who are interested, it will be possible to have grouping as well. Maybe CJ has some ideas (they already added grouping in the regular RC ) to make this happen.
Thanks

Group data for virtual mode has some technical 'hardships':
- we need read all records and sort them (or you should provide sorted data)
- we need create group rows (may be on runtime if you provide sorted data)
- we need keep collapsed groups (if user collapse all groups this may take a lot of memory and processor to handle this)
This is not easy to implement and how fine(fast) this will work for big records set ?.... this is a good question.
May be easier to use report in none virtual mode if you need groups?
Also virtual mode supports records tree (1 level only).

Hi,
Thanks for reply, at least one uses RC in virtualmode
I'm just thinking out loud, if I would provide the sorted data (a recordset of entire data) and a separate recordset with the Grouprows captions and number of found items, would it be possible to have (at least one level) grouping?
My sql isn't that wonderfull but I'm able to provide such. We could have, like the standard RC property, ShowItemsInGroups functionality for just one level
The first time I laid my eyes on the RC control, I saw the virtualmode and loading data (1 million or so) in 0.1 sec...... Since that day I can't let go the database thingy hehehe. I really hope this will be possible in some way.
Thanks again
