Removing icon of set size from imagemanager

I have a problem

I am not sure how to reference individual icons in an imagemanager

If I add icons of different size to an imagemanager using the same commandid and then I reference the imagemanager to say a listview and then set the iconsize of the listview the listview uses the correct size of icon.

If I want to at run time change or edit one of the sized icons (but not the others) I seem to get stuck

The Icons collection has a removeicon method but it takes a commandid and then removes all icons for the commandid, how can I just remove the 16x16 icon but not the 24x24 icon?

I must be missing something?
