I'm using the ListBox control with Markup turned on and wondering if Hyperlinks will work - I can see the underlined link but when I click nothing happens

The click event of the hyperlink or links in the markup for each list item.   I have a need to have 3 or more links PER list item.   I was thinking I could use the Markup feature and place markup click routines in the code for performing the actions based on which link was called but I can't find anything on how to setup the context on the control. the link will show but nothing happens when I click on it... am I missing something very basic?
