Obviously MS Vista isn't out yet, but there are several examples available:

It sure seems like the task dialog is one of those ideas that are just "obvious" after you've seen it.  It makes all of the calls to MessageBox that I've ever coded just look awful.

+1 vote for the TaskDialog in XTP.

There is an implementation on CodeProject which mimicks the API of the original TaskDialog and is therefore a drop in replacement. I guess that's a better solution than a proprietary API.

Thanks for all of your suggestion. We have actually been developing a fully functional Vista like TaskDialog that can be used on all supported Windows platforms. This will be introduced with our ToolkitPro 2007 release that is scheduled for release shortly.

Although I have never hit a show-stopper I would be very happy to try a beta in my software which makes very heavy use ofToolkitPro.

I also have a few dumb users and very also some excellent testers (the guys who really get annoying).

Will it be a full implementation of the Vista TaskDialog API?

Will it transparently fall back to the native implementation on Vista?
