I have an application that has different data entry panels (eg. suppliers, customers, orders, products, etc). The application has been designed with the same UI as MS Money 2006.

I'm still trying to understand how menus, toolbars and tasks will be migrated to the Ribbon!!

Ivan

You need a 3rd option "I plan to wait to see what users reactions are to Office 2007 and see if the changes are applicable to our application"

How about a Designer Studio for Ribbon bars?

I like your implementation of the ribbon, however for many applications I don't think it would not make sense to implement a ribbon

I think the key in the video Oleg linked, is that the ribbon was designed primarily to provide a "Results Oriented" interface (think galleries, live previews, etc).

This is great for content-creation apps like word processors, graphic editors, etc., however it would not work for a web browser, music player, development tools, etc.

The ribbon can enhance some application UIs, but I'm afraid we will see it overused if only because it's the latest look from MS Office.

Yep. If you look at the beta, only Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint have a ribbon throughout the app. Outlook has a ribbon when adding/editing contacts.

Ribbons are great when apps work on one type of documents, ie. documents in Word, spreadsheets in Excel, databases in Access, presentations in Powerpoint. As you can see, Outlook is a different beast. There are too many views (aka documents, eg. contacts, tasks, mails, etc), and this is harder to implement.

MS has stated that only the apps above will have a ribbon but other apps will join the ribbon team later on.

From what I can understand, a ribbon will replace the menubar, toolbar, tabbed toolbar and task panels.

W'll have to wait and see...

Context tabs are good in these cases.  For example, open up word and insert a table or chart.  You will see new tabs appear specific to these objects when selected.  Could be same idea with different document types.

Personally I think it looks cool, but i can see that if it is not implemented properly and with some thought, it could quickly look like an unorganized and confusing mess. It also takes up some real esate. What would be cool is if it would slide down like a menu and you could either dock it or not.

...also because of the overhead the ribbon graphics added to the commandbar control (doubled it's size), I would like to see either the graphics pulled out the control and let me load them from a resource file, some other scenario or possibly just make it a separate control all together.
