13.1 (currently beta) adds the feature of allowing recently used files to be pinned to the file list.
 
While I really like this, I would prefer not to add it to the current release of our software... Is there any way to disable this feature? If not, could it be added?

Why not stick to 13.0 then?

It won't work by default. You need create special PinnableRecentFileList to use it.

I'm happy this feature made it :) as have been wanting this feature for quite a while now.  Any ideas on release date of 13.1, however we are going to download the beta once we have launched a new product today as cannot take the risk it will break something in this new software.
