I would like the Help Text area to use the available free space below the grid with a minimum height of 40 pixels.

I don't see a simple way to do this. It's purely cosmetic...

Hi - what I would like to do is use *all* available free space below the grid but don't see how to caculate the available free space.

Hi,
What _all_ available space ? in pane ?   Call GetClientRect and decrease height of items you need. Actually have no idea what do you need.

Hi,

Sorry - I have not been clear. In the attached picture there is space below the grid and above the help text. I would like the help area to use all the space below the grid, but I can't find out how big the grid is, also I would need grid resizing notifications (these are available I think).

So it's just a question of calculating the grid size - but how :-(

This is not essential!

Hi,

You can call pItem->GetItemRect() for last item.
