C#.Net Upgrade Installation to V13.1.0

   I have used a standard installation of the Xtreme Suite Pro for ActiveX COM - V13.0.0. Then I installed the new version 13.1.0 and removed the old version 13.0.0. 
In VB6 it was enough to compile the projects and it worked. 
In C#.net I'm getting an error 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' on loading the solution. And it doesn't work to remove the references to the old version of the Codejock-ocx and add the references to the new version.

What is the correct way to install a new version? How I'm getting the new reference into a C#.net-solution?

Is it a good solution to rename the ocx-files without the version-info in the name?
e.g.
Codejock.CommandBars.v13.1.0.ocx
Codejock.CommandBars.ocx
