I had changed the style in OnInitialUpdate() in XTShellTreeCtrlView.cpp but it didn't have any apparent effect.  After your reply, I went back to XTShellTreeCtrlView and found the style was also being set in Init().  I traced the initialization in the debugger and found that Init() was being called but OnInitialUpdate() was not (not sure why); which explained why my initial change failed to do anything.

Is it possible to have the tree view *not* expand/collapse the tree on a single click on the name? 

I'd like it to behave like Explorer, where selecting a directory name with a single click doesn't expand or collapse the tree.  I only want the tree to expand/collapse when I click on the + or - button, or if I double click on a name.
