The Alt+key should still access a hidden menu item. The acceleratorstill works, but you just get a loud windows 'Ding!' and no action ifthe menu item you try to shortcut to is hidden.  Say"&File/&Save"  is currently hidden because it hasn't beenrecently used.  If your habbit is to press ALT+F, then S, youwon't always get to save.  Assuming the menu item does not have ashortcut like Ctrl+S, the best you can do is ALT+F, then UP, then DOWN,then S.  This is quite annoying to power users who almost neveruse a mouse for accessing the menus.
