I have got this same problem. In one of status bar pane I am showing current mouse position, so this pane is updated in every mousemove message. Unfortunetly in this same status bar I have got also a small button and it flickers very much when updating mouse cursor position.
 
Did You resolved this problem ???

I added a button in cxtpstatusbar. This status bar has also some more panes.
