The control automatically applies a highlight, the problem is that this highlight looks similar to a category heading, so the users don't spot it.

 

When the property grid has the focus, the selected item is a dark blue and this shows up a little better, but when another control has the focus, the seleted item is the same colour as the categories. In our case, the grid rarely has the focus, which is why we are selecting items programatically...

 

We've tried setting the CaptionMetrics.BackColor but it's overridden by the automatic highlighting.

 

We've tried the SetColour() method but it doesn't appear to have a parameter for the selected item.

 

Any ideas?
