Something like this:
(images refer to C#, not to VB6) 

You can create a UserControl based on FlatEdit control, where you can add any properties you need.

VB6 come with usefull add-in named: Wizard ActiveX Control Interface

Is it possible to show Hint Text in the FlatEdit control when no user data exists? Kind of like how the Search box in FireFox shows the word "Search" in grey until you start typing something in there.

If not, please consider this for a future update. It would be cool to have a .HintText property for this. Could be useful in the ComboxBox as well.
