Yes, valuechanged is fired only when use change it - if you change it in code you can manually call it.

I am using the inplacebuttondown event to show the commondialog showbrowsefolder. Once the user selects a folder from the dialog and clicks okay i am setting button.item.value = .filename This seems to work fine in terms of updating the property grid item value but, the valuechanged event for the propertygrid does not fire.
 
What am I missing?
