Try setting the visualtheme of the control, this in essence repaints the control. for example;

tabmanager1.PaintManager.Appearance = xtpTabAppearancePropertyPage2007

When changing the colour of the office 2007 theme, the commandbars has the method refreshmetrics to repaint the controls with the new colour set, how can you obtain the same functionality with the DockingPaneManager, TabControl and PropertyGrid????
