Hello,

Our automation testing team are currently using QTP and WinRunner to automate their test cases. None of the two can recognize the CodeJock objects.

Do you provide support for these automation tools (or intend to in the near future)?

Thanks,
PL

Hi,

What's the exact problem? As far as I can see tests for our samples could be easily automated with QTP 8.2 with ActiveX and VB plugins. Its ok both for ActiveX and for MFC controls.

Solution for what problem? Please be more precise with problem definition. As we can see, for relatively simple operations it works just fine. So far we need more details of what is not working for you.

Serge, Sorry for the late reply

I'll talk to our testing team and try to post more details on the problem.

One of the testing guy said winrunner treats menubar as a whole object so they can't able to get menu items as individual objects

I am also very interested in knowing what tools can be used to automate CodeJock controls.  So far using both Spy++ and Rational I have been unable to attach to controls such as menu lists.  The entire list is seen as a window, and the individual entries never show up.

Yes, all individual entries are drawn on the same window. But what doesn't allow you to emulate mouse move / clicks on it using some relative coordinates?

Some of the menus are dynamic (they can have different entries depending on the application version level, etc.)  Also, relative coordinates requires exact positioning and is extremely prone to breakage running on different machines and setups.  (we test on foreign OSs as well).  We really require component access.  Is there any way to do this in automation?

Hi,
QTP doesn't support IAutomation interface, so can't support custom controls.
Check TestComplete and IBM tools.
