Treeview notifications with multiple selection

I see that the TVN_SELCHANGED notification is sent for every item in the selection while holding shift. This is causing us problems because this tree is in sync with a 3d view and selection is undo-able, creating a gazillion undo commands.

Is there any way to have a single notification for the entire selection operation?
