PanelPaintManager is for the Auto-hide Tabs.

Client area is only effected when tab is present, in next version you can add:

'Shows tab when only you pane in group
DockingPaneManager.PaintManager.DrawSingleTab = True

Meanwhile, take a look at the Form_Resize event of the frmPaneSeach form in the Office 2003 sample for a work around.

Is there any way of changing the positioning of the window/control attached to a pane?

I would like my forms and pictureboxes to be displayed in my panes with a 50 px border/padding between the pane borders and their border.

TabPaintManager.ClientMargin.SetRect 50, 50, 50, 50 only works if more than one pane are docked together as neighbours

PanelPaintManager.ClientMargin.SetRect 50, 50, 50, 50 doesn't affect the Panes Client area
