Hello,

I am currently evaluating the ActiveX SuitePro. I have tried all the compiled examples and everything seems to be working perfectly.

Unfortunately I am experiencing crashes whenever I execute any of the two examples of the SkinFramework object. The compiled exe crashes when closing the application (the VS2005 JIT debugger dialog appears). Testing the sources inside the VB6 IDE, simply crashes the IDE when execution ends.
I experienced the same problem with the 10.3.0 version, but I gave up when I read that a 10.3.1 version would be released soon.

Any clues ?
Thanks.

My running environment is:
HP NX7000 Laptop / Centrino 1.5/ 1Gb Ram
Windows XP SP2 + all updates as of 14/9.
Visual Studio 2005 PRO
Visual Basic 6 SP6

Hello,

yes, we had no complains about it.
I think it can depence on applications running while you execute SkinFramework. Can you try to close global applications like antiviruses and check again?

@oleg

I started my tests with a brand new installed XP machine. Every application, utility or development tool I have installed has been followed by a test execution of the SkinFramework samples.
Everything went well until I installed Kaspersky AV 6.0.0.303 (only AV engine, no 'active protection' feature enabled).
At this point both samples crashed upon exiting. Same results if KAV was not running at all. I had to completely remove KAV to have everything working again.

I thought this could help you in trying to figure out why KAV and CJSF interact so badly.

For the time being I have removed KAV from my development machines so I can keep on evaluating your components. Nonetheless I badly need an AV system: I can't afford my pc being damaged by a virus! ;-)

Waiting for a reply from you!
Kindest regards.
Silver.

@oleg

Yes! You did it !

I had to recompile both samples as to use the new OCX, and everything worked fine. I tried with and without KAV installed. No more crashes.

I believe you've just added a new entry to your customer list. When you say cutting-edge components, well, you mean it.

Thanks a lot.
Silver.

oh man... this was driving me CRAZY! I installed KAV this week and had a lot of problems with my app since... I was experiencing the same bug as slvrbllt, my app would crash whenever I closed the main form while running in the IDE or when trying to compile it.

I removed all the code and finally started deleting forms/components. Then when I deleted a SkinFramework control, VB6 completely crashed. This was a good indication that it was causing the problem.

Good thing I remembered reading something about an updated build of SkinFramework on the forums.... This updated OCX fixed my issue as well. Thanks for the fix.

This is why they call me Silver  Bullet! :-)
Whenever I experience a bug, I never give up until I find out what's going wrong... sometimes I even forget to have lunch ! :-)
Nevertheless oleg did the most important part of the job! I only spotted what was causing so many troubles...

Is this SkinFramework.ocx newer than the official one released with v10.3.1?  It seems to have the same version number as the official one but it is bigger in size and has a newer date?

Above DLL: 471,040 bytes, 22 September 2006, 10:06:10
Official DLL: 428,216 bytes, 13 September 2006, 14:09:48

I am experiencing ramdom crashing issues (as reported via Issue# 11558) and wanted to see if crashing issues reported in this thread were related.

Thanks,
G.

We have now confirmed that it seems to be the SkinFramework control that is causing the problems.

Does anyone out there know if this DLL sorts this problem? I seem to be getting no responses from my official support request despite having a support contract.

As I have explained in Issue #11558, the problem is completely random and cannot be consistantly replicated.  I am therefore unable to send you a bit of code that will reproduce the problem.

Can you please respond to my issue as I have been waiting well over a week now and it is really urgent.  I have only just discovered that you replied to this post (it was supposed to email me replies but it appears not to have).

Since I have not had any response from the 7 additional notes I have added to my Issue in the last week, nor did I get to speak to anyone when I phoned support yesterday (from Scotland!), should I really be posting all my issues to the forums instead?

As an absolute minimum can you please answer these questions:
  • When you say 10.4 will be released at the end of December what do you mean?  When exactly will it be released?
  • What issues wil be fixed?
  • What new features have been added?
  • Can you give us a beta copy so we can see if it fixes our problem(s)?
  • As I asked in my original post above, what version of the SkinFramework control is newer and could the crashing bug reported above be related to my crashing problem?

And can you please respond individually to the other 18 points in my Issue as well please? Or should I just repost them all on the forums?
