Tab Color in AxTabControl

I try to change the background color of a single tab in the tab control, but nothing seems to happen.I can set Color on the XtremeSuiteControls.TabControlItem but it looks just like all the other tabs.
My users want me to highlight tabs if action is needed, and I thought changing color to red would be the way to go.

I suppose the color is in RGB style?
Maybe it's impossible to change color when using Office2003 theme?
The first picture I get when opening the online help shows tabs in different colors, so I suppose it is possible to do.
