Loading an icon with LoadPicture()

   Does anyone know how to add an icon with the LoadPicture() method?  I need to load various image types not supported by the built-in functions.

I ran across this:

Which apparently loads images from an IPictureDisp - the same thing LoadPicture() returns.  However I cannot get this to work in my application.

I am using an ImageManager to supply the default toolbar images - would this make any difference?
