form icon changes when ribbon shown

I am using a VB6 application with a commandbar control utilising the ribbonbar, when the form is shown the icon is poor quality, when I resize the form such that the tabs of the ribbon dissappear the icon goes back to the correct quality.

The difference may seem small but it is annoying nonetheless and shouldn't happen. Is there a way to solve this?
