Disable paint?

   Is there any way to disable paint for the CommandBars?I'm replacing som old Sheridan toolbars and there you could disable paint, change the state/captions/icons/whatever of all tools and then enable paint again and refresh. This was very good to prevent unnecessary flickering and paints until you knew it was needed.
 I haven't found any similar function in CodeJock command bars. Is there one?
